The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyrequested this Wednesday combat planes to the United Kingdom after thanking him for his support "from the first seconds" of the russian invasion from your country on February 24, 2022.

Zelensky delivered a speech to Parliament in London after meeting Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in Downing Street during his first trip to British soil since the start of the war.

Subsequently, the president will be received in audience by King Charles III and, together with Sunak, will visit Ukrainian soldiers training in the southwest of England.

In his speech before a dedicated audience of deputies and lords, the president thanked the United Kingdom "in advance" “his mighty English planes”and stated: "Fighter Jets for Ukraine, Wings for Freedom."

“We will do everything possible and impossible for the world to provide us with modern aircraft to empower and protect the pilots who will protect us”he stated.

At the end of the event, he presented the Speaker of the House of Commons, Lindsay Hoyle, with a Ukrainian Armed Forces pilot helmet, with the legend: "We have freedom, give us wings to protect it."

In the speech, Zelensky personally thanked former Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson, now an MP, who was present at his appearance at Westminster Hall for his support.

After celebrating that “London has supported kyiv from the first day, the first seconds and minutes”, told Boris, who was ruling at the time, that he was able to "unite the others" against Russia when "It seemed absolutely impossible."

About the UK, he stated: "You extended your helping hand when the world had not yet come to understand how to react."

Later, he also thanked the current head of the Government, Rishi Sunak, “his powerful defensive step forward”by promising a few days ago the shipment of Challenger 2 tanks and an expansion of the training program for the Ukrainian military.

At another point in his speech, Zelensky recalled a visit in 2020 to the War Rooms located under government buildings in central London, from where former Prime Minister Winston Churchill led during World War II.

He explained that now he understands what he felt then when he entered that place, that "bravery carries you through the most unimaginable difficulties to finally reward you with victory."

Zelensky also said that it will be "a truly special moment" when Carlos III receives him in an audience shortly, to whom, he specified, he will convey the gratitude of all Ukrainians.

“In the UK, the king is an air force pilot. In Ukraine today, every air force pilot is a king." proclaimed.

After passing through the United Kingdom, the president is expected to travel later to France and Belgium, according to various sources.
