In UP's Meerut district, on Sunday, a lover couple was shot dead in Pepla village under Jani police station. The boyfriend died on the spot, while the girlfriend succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The police officer gave this information. The deceased were identified as Shubham (21) and Sakshi (19). According to the villagers, both had a love affair for a long time. Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan said that after receiving information about the incident, the police reached and recovered both the bodies and sent them to Meerut District Hospital for post-mortem.
The SP said that the body of the lover has been recovered from the girl's house. The girl died during treatment at Subharti Hospital in Meerut.
SP says that prima facie the matter seems to be of love affair. The police is probing the matter from all angles. At the same time, some villagers are also expressing the apprehension of honor killing.
