Stock market: Sensex closed at 60,691 points with a fall, Nifty also fell 99 points

On Monday, the Sensex and Nifty of the stock market registered a decline.

The Sensex closed at 60,691.54, down 0.51 per cent, while the Nifty closed at 17,844.60, down 0.56 per cent.

Midcap stocks also had a volatile environment throughout the day. Nifty Midcap 50 closed at 8,647.30 points with a gain of 0.13 per cent till the market closed.

Today in the global market, DAX and SGX Nifty also closed on the red mark with a fall.

Among the top gainers today, Koforge Ltd., Persistent and Shree Cements performed well with gains of 3.12 per cent, 3.09 per cent and 2.93 per cent respectively.

Shares of Gujarat Gas and Motherson also gained 2.91 per cent and 2.82 per cent, respectively.

Cipla, Adani Enterprises, Delta Corp, Piramal Enterprises and Vodafone-Idea were the top losers, falling 6.02 per cent, 5.87 per cent, 3.30 per cent, 3.01 per cent and 2.76 per cent, respectively.
