Panic among people due to landslide in Ramban after Doda

Jammu-Kashmir: After Doda in Jammu and Kashmir, landslides have been reported in more than a dozen houses in the remote area of ​​Ramban district. There is an atmosphere of panic among the people here after the landslide. It is being said that about 13 families have been rendered homeless by the landslide.

The affected families have been shifted to safer places and immediate relief has been provided, officials said, adding that the main road near the village has developed cracks and has been closed for vehicular traffic. According to information, the landslide occurred in Duksar Dal village of Gool sub-division, 45 km from Ramban district headquarters.

The affected families are said to have been shifted and provided with tents, ration, utensils and blankets as immediate relief. They will also be given compensation as soon as possible. Let us tell you that about 15 days ago, 19 houses in Nai Basti village of Doda district were affected by the landslide.

Rakib, the local sarpanch, said, “People are in panic as we have never seen such a situation before. We are thankful to the district administration for the quick response and we hope that all the affected families will be properly rehabilitated.

What did the Sub Divisional Magistrate say?

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gul Tanveer-ul-Majid Wani said that a total of five houses were damaged and rendered uninhabitable due to the landslide in Daxar Dal. The affected families have been relocated. We are closely monitoring the situation and requesting people to exercise restraint, he said.

Earlier, several other teams including experts from Geological Survey of India (GSI) had also inspected the affected village to find out the underlying factors for the increase in cracks in concrete structures.
