Bharat Arun, the former bowling coach of the Indian cricket team, has told an anecdote related to Mohammad Siraj. According to Arun, he was very impressed by seeing Siraj as a net bowler in 2015.
He said, "I immediately asked Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor VVS Laxman about Siraj. Siraj looked very good in the nets and Laxman also described him as a very talented bowler."
Arun gave Siraj a chance in Ranji Trophy in 2017
In 2017, Arun became the coach of the Hyderabad team and immediately demanded Siraj. After a lot of pressure, the selectors also included Siraj in the team.
Siraj took 41 wickets and was the highest wicket-taker for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy.
Siraj got a chance to make his T20 international debut only a few days later. After being expensive in the beginning, Siraj is now India's main bowler in all three formats.
