The Indian cricket team has shown excellent performance in Test cricket for some time now.

Currently, India is leading 2-0 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy being played against Australia cricket team.

For some time now, the Indian team has maintained its supremacy in the home Test series. In the last four decades, winning Test series on India tour has been a tough challenge for the opposition teams.

Let's know India's supremacy through statistics.

India has lost only 4 home Test series in the last 36 years

In the last 36 years, only 4 foreign captains have been able to win Test series in India.

Pakistan won the series 1-0 in 1987 under the leadership of Imran Khan. After that, in the year 2000, under the captaincy of Hansie Cronje, South Africa won 2-0.

Australia won the series 2–1 in 2004 under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist and the English team led by Alastair Cook won the series 2–1 in 2012.

India has won 15 home Test series in the last decade

Since losing the Test series to England in 2012, India have won 15 Test series at home in the last decade.

In this interval, India has defeated Australia, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka and New Zealand 2-2 times and Afghanistan cricket team once.

The interesting thing is that in this whole decade, the Indian team has lost only in 2 Test matches.

India's winning percentage has been amazing in the last decade

Since the defeat against England, India have won 36 out of 44 Tests at home. Similarly, there were 6 draws and 2 losses.

India's win percentage during this period has been 81. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have captained India.

Only Australia (82) had a better win percentage than India in a decade around the Second World War (1937 to 1951).

These Indian players made important contribution

Kohli has been instrumental in India being invincible in the Test series in the last decade. He has scored 3,408 runs in this period at an average of 60.85. Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara has scored 3,007 runs at an average of 50.11.

In this interval, Ravindra Jadeja has taken 1,541 runs at an average of 42 with the bat and 186 wickets in bowling. Ravichandran Ashwin has taken 1,249 runs with the bat and 272 wickets in bowling.

These teams have also dominated in the past

Australia had won 52 out of 68 matches under the captaincy of Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting from 1997 to 2008, during which the Kangaroo team's winning percentage was 76, but they could not win in India.

The toughest team to beat at home has also been the West Indies, who went undefeated for 23 years. They had won only 47 matches out of a total of 94 matches in this period.
