Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba indicated on Thursday that it was developing a potential rival to ChatGPT, joining the global race of technology firms to match the popular artificial intelligence chatbot.
The appearance of ChatGPT prompted companies like Microsoft, Google and China's Baidu to develop chatbots that can simulate human speech.
The servicecreated by the San Francisco company OpenAI, cIt was all the rage for its ability to write essays, poems or program code in just a few seconds, raising suspicions due to the obsolescence of some professions or whether it could be used by students for their jobs.
Alibaba is working on a similar chatbot that is being tested by its employees, a company spokeswoman said to the AFP.
