Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba indicated on Thursday that it was developing a potential rival to ChatGPT, joining the global race of technology firms to match the popular artificial intelligence chatbot.

Alibaba is working on a similar chatbot that is being tested by its employees, a company spokeswoman said to the AFP.
